Duanne McQueen of Gadsden, Alabama was able to take 6th Place in the “Fishing w/Jim Austin” Bass Tournament on the Black Warrior River a couple of weeks ago. Jim Austin’s Bass Tournament trail is one of the longest running African American Bass Fishing Tournament trails in the country. Before Jim, there was P.O.C.O. (People of Color Organization) Bass Trail which ran in conjunction with S.A.B.B.A. (Sportsman Association of Black Bass Anglers). These Bass Fishing trails were pivotal in the 1990s and provided a lot of opportunities for African American and Minority Bass Anglers to showcase their bass fishing skills on a professional level. In the photo above, Duanne is posing with a couple of nice ones he pulled out of his sack at weigh-in. Don’t be mistaken, this guy can catch’em!

Sean Henderson of the FHD Fishing Team was able to get out and wet a line earlier this week. With the “see-saw” water levels of the Mobile-Tensaw River and a crazy work schedule, Sean decided enough was enough and hit the water anyway. Here’s a nice one he caught during his fun fishing trip. Latching on to this one reminded him that he could still catch one! Tight Lines!

It’s not often that you meet people, strike up a conversation about fishing, plan a trip and you go fishing. Usually the act of “going” falls apart and you find yourself remembering the conversation and how excited the person made you feel about getting on the water with them. That wasn’t quite the case with Mr. Killingsworth.  I met Mr. Killingsworth through my uncle which is his first cousin. Being that I’m new to the California Bass Fishing scene, my uncle put me in contact with Mr. Killingsworth. We’ve been planning a fishing trip since back in July of 2021 but due to our conflicting schedules, it's been a challenge. A few days ago, we were finally able to get out on San Pablo Reservoir which is just north of Oakland. While we didn’t get bit, we had a great time on the water together and we’re already planning the next trip.
